FAUN RTF 40-3 - Commandeur & Plomp

A FAUN RTF 40-3 of Commandeur & Plomp from De Rijp (NL), they had two units in operation. In the meantime both cranes are replaced by 50 tonne cranes.

It is a 40 tonne crane on a 3 axle undercarriage. The RTF 40-3 was produced between 1990 and 2000, this crane has year of manufacture 1997 and was previously owned by Van Dijk from Volendem (NL).

Packed has the crane a 11.4 meter length, a 2.55 meter breadth and a 3.75 meter height. The transport mass is around 36 tonnes.

The undercarriage is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 401 LA, a 6 cylinder dieselengine with 290 hp. All axles are driven and steerable.

The main boom has a 9.22 meter base length and extends three times to a 30 meter length. The main boom can be extended by a single folding jib with a 9.05 meter length.

The outrigger base measures 6.75 x 6.3 meters, or half 6.75 x 4.7 meters.

Good recognizable is the position of the engine in the undercarriage, is it positioned at the back.

The full counterweight weights 7.5 tonnes and has a 3.2 meter tailswing.

During transport over the road 5.5 tonnes of counterweight is lay down on the undercarriage. In front of the counterweight are laying two larger outrigger pads.
