Grove GMK5220 - Rieger & Moser

The biggest crane of Rieger & Moser from Ulm (DE) is this red Grove GMK5220, a 220 tonne crane. Together with the company Schmidbauer is also a Terex AC 700 used, this crane is also parked on the yard in Ulm.

The year of manufacture is 2008. Driven is the crane by a Mercedes-Benz OM502LA, an 8-cylinder diesel engine with 571 hp.

Packed is the crane 15.08 meters long, 3 meters wide and 4 meters height. The transport mass is 60 tonnes.

The main boom has a 13.3 meter base length and is six times extendable up to 68 meters in length. With that boom a radius of 62 meters is reachable.

The main boom is extendable with a folding jib. The folding jib is 12 or 22 meters long and is adjustable in angle between 5 and 40 degrees, optional with hydraulics. Two extensions with a length of 8 meters can be built in between the folding jib and the main boom making the jib 37 meters long. A hook height of about 100 meters is then reachable!

The outrigger base of the crane is 8.55 x 8.1 meters.

The crane was here put up with 71 tonnes of counterweight, existing out of 5 plates and two hang-on slabs. The counterweight can be extended with two another hang-on slabs to 77 tonnes. The tailswing is 5.3 meters.

Here was the crane used to lift the two heavy precast concrete beams behind the boom. In the following night another two beams will be lifted with the crane.
