Scania P 420 - Holtrop & Van der Vlist

This sharp Scania P 420 of Holtrop & Van der Vlist from Assen (NL) stood with an oversized cargo along the German motorway 6 near Oberampfrach (DE) parked. The combination exists out of a 5-axle truck with an 4-axle low loader.

The truck is this sharp 5-axle Scania P 420 with 10x4-drive line, that is powered by a Scania DC12, an 11.7-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 309 kW (420 hp). The mass of the truck is approx. 14 tonnes.

The last two axles are driven, the three front axles are all steerable. Holtrop & Van der Vlist is deploying multiple of these 5-axle trucks.

Behind the cabin are the large diesel tank, storage compartment and spare-wheel vissible. Behind the front axle is the muffler installed.

Because of the wide cargo is the transport only allowed to drive at night in Germany.

On this side is behind the cabine also the radiator vissible. Because the cabin was moved forwards to reduce the total height of the vehicle, was below the cabin no space left over for the radiator. Behind the front axle is here the AdBlue tank installed.

Attached is a Nooteboom Euro-83-04, a 4-axle low loader with pendel axles and a loading capacity of 62 tonnes.

The low loader has an extended gooseneck, so that the trailer can be used with a 5-axle truck.

The cargo is a base machine of a Fantuzzi reachstacker. The cargo weights approx. 45 tonnes, is 4.25 meters wide and 4.4 meters tall.

A very tough combination!
