Transport of a transformer by Daher

In April 2018 was Daher from Leese (DE) transporting a 235-tonne Siemens transformer in Oberottmarshausen (DE) with use of their Mercedes-Benz Actros 4165 and a Mercedes-Benz Actros 4153. The transport was about to start to roll here under police escort.

The transformer is hanging in a Greiner transformer bridge, the transformer bridge is loaded on two 10-axle Scheuerle platform trailers. The combination has a 44 meter length. The Mercedes-Benz Actros 4165 is driving forwards the first section of the trip.

The transformer was transported to Oberottmarshausen by rail and on a side track transfered for transport over the road. The distance to travel over the road is only 1.2 kilometers.

At the end of the Bahnhofstraße was the transport to wait for a short period until crossing the rail was possible. This must be approved by Deutsche Bahn.

The Siemens transformer is 10.25 meters long, 3.32 meters wide and 4.725 meters tall.

At the back of the transport was the Mercedes-Benz Actros 4153 attached. The truck has driven rearwards on the first stretch. This method was often applied by Daher, this will reduce time because now it isn't required to turn the truck all the time.

The Hauptstraße is blocked now and the transport makes a sharp left turn.

The transport is now straight again in the Hauptstraße, now the Actros 4153 will drive forwards and the Actros 4165 rearwards.

The railway is crossed now. The most crucial part of this transport.

The second turn can be made normally.

The transport has a total weight of approx. 480 tonnes.

The Actros 4165 is now driving rearwards all the time.

Within a couple of minutes has the transport reached its destination. The transformer will be unloaded there with use of the transformer bridge without crane. A very sharp transport by Daher!
