This fine and interesting Grove GMK6300 belongs to Borger Cranes and was parked at their yard in Pinkenba (AU). It is a 300-tonne mobile crane, mounted on a 6-axle carrier and built in 2007.

The carrier is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM502LA, an 8-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 420 kW (571 hp). The crane has 12x6x12 drive, whereby axles 1, 4 and 5 are driven. All axles are steerable.

The outrigger base measures 8.7 x 8.5 metres, or 8.7 x 6.0 metres when half extended. No ballast is carried on the deck of the carrier.

If the boom were facing forwards, the crane would be 18.05 metres long, 2.98 metres wide and 3.95 metres high. In this case, the boom is facing rearwards and loaded onto a dolly to reduce the axle loads. The crane is now approximately 24.2 metres long.

The superstructure is also powered by a Mercedes-Benz diesel engine, in this case an OM906LA, a 6-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 190 kW (258 hp). This diesel engine drives a total of four hydraulic pumps.

Because the crane is registered for operation in Queensland, the maximum axle loads are 10 tonnes. The boom is therefore loaded onto a 3-axle dolly. This dolly is rigidly connected to the boom. During transport on public roads, the slew is released and the luffing cylinder can move with the boom.

The five-section main boom has a base length of 15.5 metres and telescopes four times to a maximum length of 60 metres. Notably, this crane can be equipped with a boom guying system.

A maximum of 100 tonnes of ballast can be mounted on the superstructure. The ballast has a swing radius of 5.58 metres. The crane is equipped with a 12-tonne hoist winch.

A very fine and impressive crane from Borger Cranes!

Elsewhere in the yard, three dedicated trailers carrying ballast and outrigger mats for the crane were parked.
