Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1

Bok Seng

The most recent Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 deployed by Bok Seng from Singapore (SG) is being set up here on its own premises for some heavy lifting work. It is a 500-tonne crane from the year of manufacture 2013.

The crane was to be deployed with the maximum ballast of 165 tonnes. The ballast consists of a 15-tonne base plate, six wide slabs of 15 tonnes each and four blocks of 15 tonnes each stacked on the sides. Here, the crane is installing the 21.5-tonne coupling frame in order to be able to mount the ballast to the superstructure later.

This crane was primarily deployed for heavy lifting work and was therefore equipped with the 50-metre boom. This boom has a base length of 16.1 metres and telescopes three times to a maximum length of 50 metres. Here, the boom is 36.9 metres long; with the YSL guying folded out, some heavy lifting work will shortly be carried out.

The used hook has seven sheaves, weighs 2.7 tonnes and is rated for a maximum lifting capacity of 171.1 tonnes. With eight falls of rope, each rated for 12.5 tonnes, the crane is prepared to lift loads of up to 97.3 tonnes.

The crane was erected at the waterfront and was to lift four heavy anchor chains from this pontoon, which also belongs to Bok Seng.

Here, the crane is therefore erected to the maximum. The outrigger base measures 10 x 9.6 metres.

The first set of anchor chains is now suspended in the crane. In total, the crane is now lifting approximately 78 tonnes, which is the load including the rigging.

The load is hoisted at a radius of approximately 17 metres.

After the crane has slewed to the left, the chains are laid down on the ground. They will be stored temporarily on land.

In the meantime, this crane is no longer active at Bok Seng and was shipped to New Zealand in early 2026. There, the crane is now deployed by Smith Cranes for lifting work.

In total, four anchor chains had to be brought ashore. Here, the last one is already being lifted from the pontoon.

This chain was also quickly brought ashore. A very fine job carried out by Bok Seng!
