In the spring of 2009, Busker from Zaltbommel (NL) deployed its fine Liebherr HS 855 HD on the beach near Monster (NL) to vibrate sheet piles. The HS 855 HD is a 90-tonne duty cycle crawler crane.

The beach and the dunes were being upgraded. A sheet pile wall had to be driven on the beach and through the dunes in order to be able to install a supply pipeline for sand later on.

Here, the duty cycle crawler crane is at work with a PVE vibro hammer. The vibro hammer is powered by the crane.

The HS 855 HD is powered by a Liebherr D 9508 A7, a 16.2-litre 8-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 450 kW (612 hp). The crane is equipped as standard with two 25-tonne hoist winches. Under the boom foot, next to the cab, a small auxiliary winch is mounted.

The carrier is 6.46 metres long and 4.95 metres wide. For transport on public roads, the width of the carrier can be reduced to 3.2 metres. Here, the third hoist winch is visible on the boom foot; it is used to hoist the hose package to the vibro hammer. A cooler for the return lines of the vibro hammer is also mounted in the boom foot.

A total of 29.3 tonnes of ballast is mounted on the superstructure. The ballast consists of a base plate of 17.3 tonnes, on top of which eight blocks of 1.5 tonnes each are placed. The ballast has a swing radius of 4.7 metres. Optionally, the ballast can be increased to 32.3 tonnes with an additional two 1.5-tonne blocks.

The main boom has a base length of 11 metres and can be extended in steps of 3 metres up to a maximum of 68 metres. Here, the crane is erected with a 32-metre main boom.

A very fine duty cycle crawler crane working at a special location!
