This attractive Liebherr MK 140 was positioned on the manufacturers premises in October 2021 for demonstration purposes. It is a 140 tm tower crane mounted on a 5-axle carrier.

The five-axle carrier is powered by a Liebherr D946 A7, a 6-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 400 kW (544 hp). Axles 2, 4 and 5 are driven, all axles are steerable.

The full outrigger base measures 8.25 x 8.2 metres, or half 8.25 x 5.95 metres.

Here the crane was assembled with the base ballast of 4.3 tonnes, which has a turning radius of 3.8 metres. The ballast can be increased with an additional 9 tonnes of ballast, in which case the turning radius is 4.25 metres.

In transport configuration this crane is 15.97 metres long, 3 metres wide and 4 metres high. The transport weight of the crane is approximately 60 tonnes.

In this configuration the crane can lift a maximum of 8 tonnes up to a radius of 12 metres, with the additional ballast 8 tonnes can be lifted up to a radius of 14.4 metres. Besides the traditional trolley mode, this crane also has a luffing mode. In this mode, the hoisting rope is redirected over a sheave at the boom head and the radius is changed by adjusting the boom.

In trolley mode the boom has a maximum length of 58.5 metres. The boom can also be set at an angle of 15, 30 or 45 degrees if required. In luffing mode the boom is 60, 62.5 or 65 metres long. Here the crane is assembled in luffing mode with a 60 metre long boom.

The three-section tower extends twice. With a horizontal trolley jib, hook heights of 20.8, 30.3 or 39.9 metres can be selected. In luffing mode, with the tower fully extended and the boom luffed to a maximum length of 65 metres, a lifting height of 94.4 metres can be achieved. In that configuration the crane can lift 1,000 kg over the entire range with maximum ballast.

A unique crane from Liebherr!
