Mercedes-Benz Actros 4160

Thömen

Thömen from Potsdam (DE) deployed this attractive Mercedes-Benz Actros 4160 with a 7-axle semi-trailer to transport the base machine of a crawler crane from the factory in Ehingen (DE) to a port in the north of Germany.

The Actros 4160 is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM 502 LA, a 15.9-litre 8-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 440 kW (598 hp). The truck has an 8x4 drivetrain in which both rear axles are driven.

The exhaust silencer is mounted behind the front axle.

On this side, the air filter and the AdBlue tank are positioned behind the front axle. Behind the cab, the large diesel tank, hydraulic oil tank, compressed air reservoirs, battery and cooler for the WSK 400 torque converter are installed.

A Nooteboom Manoovr MPL 3+7 is being towed, here deployed as a 7-axle semi low loader. This trailer can be configured into a 10-axle trailer by means of a 3-axle dolly.

This trailer is approved for an axle load of 12 tonnes. The axles are height-adjustable by 500 mm. All axles are steerable.

The load is the base machine of a Liebherr LR 1500 for Cranes Inc from New York (US), nowadays Bay Crane. The body has a total weight of 58.8 tonnes.

An attractive combination from Thömen!
