Hitachi

Hitachi was founded in 1910 by Namihei Odaira as a shop for electronic components. The name Hitachi derives from the Japanese words "Hi" (sun) and "Tachi" (rise). In 1949, the first earthmoving machine, the U05, was delivered, a mechanical shovel. The first crane was not developed until 1971. This was the first hydraulic crawler crane and was designated type KH150. The KH designation remained in use until 1994, after which development continued with the CX series. The heaviest crane in the KH series was the 200-ton KH1000 and for the CX series this was the CX2000, likewise a 200-ton crane. In 2002, Hitachi merged with Sumitomo to form Hitachi Sumitomo - today HSC Cranes.
