Hitachi CX700

Van 't Hek

This fine Hitachi CX700 from Van 't Hek from Z.O. Beemster (NL) was deployed to drive a sheet pile cofferdam on a large construction site in Purmerend (NL). It is a 70-tonne crawler crane.

The undercarriage of the crane is 5.93 meters long and 4.79 meters wide. For road transport, the width can be reduced to 3.2 meters.

The crane is powered by a Hino H07CT, a 6-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 132.4 kW (180 hp).

On the superstructure, 23.8 tonnes of ballast are installed; the ballast has a slewing radius of 4 meters. During crane operation, the A-frame has a total height of 5.77 meters.

This crane is equipped with three hoist winches: two 6.5-tonne hoist winches (for lifting the vibratory hammer and sheet piles) and a small auxiliary winch for lifting the package of hydraulic hoses.

Here, the crane was operating with a 33-meter-long main boom. In this configuration, the crane can lift a maximum of 26.2 tonnes at a radius of 7.5 meters or 3.3 tonnes at a radius of up to 29.8 meters. The maximum length of the main boom is 54 meters.

Here, sheet piles were driven into the ground using an ICE 28RF vibratory hammer. This vibratory hammer has an operating weight of approximately 5.1 tonnes. The vibratory hammer is equipped with its own power pack for hydraulic drive.

Driving sheet piles is one of the many specialities of Van 't Hek; a fine deployment and an impressive crane!
